After starting to publish a zine in which he writes his secret feelings about his lonely life and his parents' divorce, sixteen-year-old John meets an unusual girl and begins to develop a healthier personality.
Sixteen-year-old John can't express any emotion unless he's writing. When he picks up a magazine written by a teenage girl named Marisol, he knows he has to meet her--she sounds incredible. When the two finally do meet, they discover a wonderful friendship that allows them to talk about anything--John talks about his parents' divorce, Marisol wishes her adoptive parents wouldn't smother her so much. John realizes he's falling in love with her and reveals his feelings. Surprised and touched, she can't believe that he actually loves her, but the feeling isn't mutual. And to make matters worse, John is about to find out a secret about Marisol that may just crush his entire world.
